Property Tax Relief Program

Program Status (Closed)
The 2025 program year is now closed and we are no longer accepting applications at this time. The next application period will open in April 2026. This page will be updated when the new application dates and materials are available.

The Property Tax Relief Program provides eligible De Soto residents with a rebate of up to $500 on their City property taxes to those who meet the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s income guidelines for Johnson County (updated annually). Created by the governing body, the program helps offset the impact of rising property values and keeps homeownership more affordable. This initiative is all about making living in De Soto more accessible, especially for our qualifying low-income households, seniors, and disabled veteran community members.

Applications are reviewed by a committee that evaluates eligibility and documentation, with special emphasis given to residents over the age of 65 and disabled veterans.
