Basics

  • Municipal Elections are non-partisan and held in odd-numbered years.
  • If necessary, primary elections are held on the first Tuesday in August.
  • General elections are held on Tuesday after the first Monday in November.

Mayor and City Council Terms

Mayor and City Councilmembers are elected at-large, to serve four-year, staggered terms.

Requirements for Qualified Candidates for Mayor and Councilmembers

  • Eighteen years of age
  • A citizen of the United States
  • A resident of the City of De Soto
  • A registered voter
