The 83rd & Lexington Corridor Study consultant team presented their final recommendation to the City Council (in the Nov. 7th meeting), offering a vision for De Soto’s infrastructure and future development.
This comprehensive study was designed to enhance connectivity, accessibility, and the overall quality of life for our community.
Here’s a look at some key highlights:
- Smoother, Safer Streets: Roundabouts at key intersections, designed to reduce congestion and make daily drives easier and safer for everyone.
- Biking & Walking, Made Easy: On-street bike lanes extend the entire length of the corridor, while a sidewalk on one side and a 10-foot pedestrian trail on the other stretch from Commerce to Carress Street, providing ample room for everyone—whether on two wheels or two feet.
- A Welcoming Community Connection: Thoughtfully planned landscaping and enhanced access points create a corridor that supports growth and strengthens neighborhood connections.
This study sets the foundation for De Soto to secure funding for these crucial improvements, ensuring our community continues to grow sustainably and accessibly!
