What You Need to Know:
- This is NOT a bill. The notice - specific to your property - includes proposed tax rates from all your different taxing jurisdictions and details about their public hearings. We put together this graphic to help explain what you're looking at.
- The City of De Soto intends to LOWER the City-portion of your property tax burden (in real dollars)! For the average homeowner, we're aiming to reduce your City property tax by around $150.
- If we plan to lower City property taxes, why did we declare an intent to exceed the revenue neutral rate? Even though we fully expect to lower your City property taxes, we still "declared an intent" to exceed the revenue neutral rate out of an abundance of caution. This step gives us more time to finalize our budget numbers, ensuring accuracy and fiscal responsibility, but does trigger a public hearing.
Our 2025 Budget Hearing and Revenue Neutral Rate (RNR) Hearing is on Thursday, September 19th, at 7pm in City Hall.
